Classes with Live Music

Students will have classes accompanied by live music offering an opportunity for them to experience the connection between music and dance.  In contrast to recorded music, a band is able to support the students by breaking down and isolating components of the music, and customizing the tempos.  The musicians will be available to answer questions about rhythms, harmonic progressions and Blues styles by playing contrasting pieces of music for illustration. These segments can be especially insightful for students when the band reveals how a dancer’s movements sound to the musicians, and how a dancer’s movements support the music which they are dancing to.
